Sanovnik Destang is the Executive Director and Shareholder of Bay Gardens Resorts, a locally owned group of hotels in Saint Lucia. A Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst, he previously worked at KPMG Toronto before returning home in 2008 to lead the family business. Sanovnik helped engineer a major turnaround for Bay Gardens through digital marketing strategies, cost management, and growth initiatives, earning awards like the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year (2014, 2015) and the 2022 Caribbean Hotelier of the Year by Caribjournal. He is the current President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) and a Past President of the St. Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA), where he spearheaded several key advocacy and development projects. A graduate of York University’s Schulich School of Business, he has also served on several local and regional boards, driving innovation in hospitality, tourism, and youth development.
